In Act One of The Doll House, Its Christmas Eve and Nora
has bought several gifts for her kids and also pays a porter
what she owes him doubled. Nora constantly spends and borrows money
believing that his husband's job will pay him more than enough to pay
them back. This has Torvald call Nora a spendthift and holding a
trait from her father. She meets a widow named Mrs. Linde who had only
married a man for money to help her mom and children. When he mom died
and her kids were adults, she had a chance to make her own life but
her husband died without leaving money meaning that she has to work
hard to help her relatives. She then calls Nora a child. Then a bank
worker named Krogstad informs that her and Torvald owe the bank alot of
money.
